On Shuffle
I really wanted to write something cause I’m hella bored but couldn’t think of something so I’m just going to take a playlist, shuffle it, and I’ll do short reviews of the songs. The playlist I’m listening to is called “NYHC: New York Hardcore” on Spotify.
“Turn It Around” by Shelter
It's off of their first studio album and the only one that Ray doesn’t sound like he’s whispering when he sings. There’s a lot of lyrics that I could quote for a sketchbook my friends and I are passing around. It’s good I like the song.

“Arming The World” by Kraut
This is the first Kraut song I’ve ever listened to so it’ll be interesting. All I know about them is that my dad really likes them. I like the music but the vocals kinda sound like when you try to talk with water in your mouth but you try to keep it in your mouth and you can’t touch your lips together. Other than that It’s pretty good.

“Voyage into Infinity” by Bad Brains
Hot take right here: I don’t really like Bad Brains. I don’t know why they just never really hit it for me like it’s hit other people and this song really shows why. His voice goes from being really sleepy and sounding like “Best Wishes” era Harley and then it turns into kinda like “Soul Glo”’s style of singing and I don’t really like it. Maybe I’d like their other stuff though.

“Yout’ Juice” by Bad Brains
Look at that the next song on shuffle was Bad Brains. I seriously hope I like this one. I don’t like this one. It’s too slow and I once again don’t really like his voice.
“Make Me An Offer” by Leeway
Before now I only thought they had one album; Born To Expire. I was wrong. This song sounds a bit more metal than the songs on Born To Expire and it’s really long for a hardcore song. This song is also slower than the songs on the other album but that makes sense cause the two albums came out 3 years apart and from listening to Bold and Youth Of Today I know that styles and sounds can change quickly.

“Secret Agent S.K.I.N.” by Murphy’s Law
I love Murphy’s Law even though I’m straight edge and so do a lot of people and this is one of my favorite songs on Back With A Bong. I feel like other hardcore bands are so like serious and have that kinda like I’m in a band don’t fuck with me but Murphy’s Law is more like I’m having fun but don’t fuck with me. Or they were all on a lot of pot when that record was recorded.

“Army of God” by Rest In Pieces
I’ve listened to Rest In Pieces before but I don't really remember much about it. This song is pretty good. It sounds like Agnostic Front and that’s pretty cool. I’m excited to hear more of their music after this song. The vocals are really crisp and I can actually understand what he’s saying and take it in the music is pretty good too.

“Kill For Cash” by Kraut
My wish was granted more Kraut for me to listen to. The beginning sounds like the music in the beginning sounds like a Saved By The Bell transition. The vocals sound more alive in this song too. I like this one better than “Arming The World”.

“Degenerated” by Reagan Youth
Interesting album cover. The lyrics are pretty good. I can understand what he’s saying and I like the music. Overall a good song I can't really think of anything to be mad about or not to like about this song.
